MU BJJ
The Marquette University Brazilian Jiu-jitsu club was founded in 2015 by senior Aidan Flanagan as a sophomore. It started with a volunteer coach from Rufusport MMA, then was self-coached by Aidan, who had several years of experience before coming to Marquette. We now have professional coaching by Chris Martin from NOVA Gyms. Our rapidly growing organization is open to all students and faculty at Marquette.
The practice environment is both competitive and extremely fun. Some of our members compete as a team at local tournaments, while others just want to stay in shape. In addition, we host a tournament once a semester with the help of Nova gyms and bjj.today. Open to the public, the tournament is a great way for our talented team to interact with the Milwaukee grappling community. Learning and competing in this combat sport has given our members tremendous confidence that seeps into all aspects of their lives.
